Introduction:
Today we are going to review an inflator, by Innovations. It is the Innovations Intelligent Head plus Co2 UltraFlate IH. This inflator appears to be light weight and durable. Let’s see just what it is all about.

Standard Features
  • Easily controllable
  • Inflates Presta or Schrader valves
  • Ergonomic trigger
  • Includes one 12 gram non-threaded Co2 cartridge

    Specifications
  • Size – 120mm x 47mm x 28mm x 72 grams
  • Constructed of high strength glass reinforced nylon

    In Depth Look

    Presta Valve
I decided to deflate the air from my front bike tire and try the inflator out. After deflating the tire I tried to place the inflator on the Presta valve and it was a little awkward at first maybe because it was new. I next tried to press the ergonomic trigger and it was fairly easy to inflate the tire up to 30 psi. Next I tried to inflate the tire to its maximum 60 psi. The inflator would not inflate the tire to 60 psi with one Co2 cartridge. It did get close to 60 psi with a new 12 gram cartridge. The next test I did was to try and inflate in a cold atmosphere. I placed the inflator outside on a relatively cold night of 25 degrees Fahrenheit. I again deflated the tire and tried to inflate. It would only inflate the tire to 28 psi due to the lowered temperature of the Co2. This was no fault of the inflator; I just wanted to see the difference for review purposes. The next test was my drop test. I dropped the inflator from ten feet high onto concrete and it did minimal facial damage. It performed perfectly after this test. Next I wanted to see what would happen it were wet such as riding in the rain. I submerged the inflator in water for 5 minutes and then dried the outside. It inflated a tire with no problem.

    Schrader Valve
The next test was to try and inflate a suspension shock. I tried to fit the inflator to a Schrader valve on a Fox Suspension Shock and it would not fit due to the clearances. I tried several positions with no luck. The inflator may very well work on some other suspension shocks with a better clearance.

    Conclusion
If you want a durable inflator don’t hesitate to try the UltraFlate IH with an intelligent head by Innovations. This is a high quality inflator which proves to be very durable at a relatively low price. It will do what it is intended to do which is get you back home when you loose your air in a tire.

    Pros
  • Light Weight
  • Low Price
  • Durable

    Cons
  • Not enough clearance for some suspension shock
