Introduction

Tektro has been making bicycle components for several years and new for 2005 is their Auriga hydraulic disc bicycle brakes. This brakes are being manufactured even as we are doing this review and they were kind enough to send us a set to take a detailed look at. They are a dual piston type with a 410 stainless steel rotor. They come in three sizes including 160mm, 180mm, and 203mm. The caliper has a forged aluminum body that incorporates CNC machining are automatic caliper positioning via adapters. The calipers come in black or silver colors. They use standard non-corrosive mineral oil which allows for excellent heat expansion. The levers are also forged aluminum with CNC machining for the reservoir design. The pads are high performance metal ceramic compound and said to be easy to replace. An adapter is needed for front and rear international standard mounts. Lets see what the Tektro Auriga hydraulic disc brakes are all about.
