Blizzard Cycling Jacket Review Reviewed By:Tim Cameron Reviewed On: March 18,2004 Product Page:Louis Garneau Price: $79.95
In-depth Look
At first glance the Blizzard was very impressive with its deep red color and reflective stripping. The jacket is 100% polyester with “WindTex” membrane that is windproof and waterproof that combines lightness, elasticity, and softness. It is completely breathable and can be used for a variety of purposes. All Louis Garneau products come with a one year warranty. If you find a Louis Garneau product damaged or defective simply take it back to where you purchased it or return to Louis Garneau. Louis Garneau slogan is: “Products based on Experience” and they mean it. I did notice that the washing care for the Blizzard is “dry clean only”, you have got to be kidding. Most bikers are not interested in taking their cycling clothes to a dry cleaners to have them cleaned, if they cycle a lot and sweat, they need to be cleaned often and that could be expensive. I imagine the 100% polyester is the reason behind this.
The jacket has a large rear zippered pocket but no side pockets which would be nice. The reflective stripping is adequate as well as the reflective Louis Garneau logo on the front and back. The front zipper seems to be high quality and most important seams are double stitched for durability.
I rode with the jacket on a fairly cold day with snow and it kept me reasonably warm. It would be good if the jacket had side pockets to place your hands in when not riding but hardly any cycling jackets have them.
