I checked the UPS website to see what it would cost to ship the case and my bike across Country. With 65 pounds, shipping from Atlanta to Seattle will cost $166.75. This was next day air including $3000.00 to insurance. Standard ground was a lot cheaper but took 5 full business days to get there. I decided to check with an airline to see what it would cost to travel with your bike. I am going to Washington DC in April and I will be flying Delta so I asked what it would cost to take my bike. It was $81.00 round trip, which I thought was very fair.
Conclusion
The Iron Case by Trico Sports is an investment to protect your investment. If you are going to travel with your bike you need a case that will protect it and the review shows that the Iron Case will protect your bike.I like the lockable feature however, I would like to see the locks included with a case costing this much money. The pull strap is nice but after pulling the case and my bike around for just a few mintues it was tiring on my hands. I couldn't imagine pulling this much weight in an airport for any distance at all. I would recommend that Trico include a padded should strap that can be attached to the case for those long airport pulls. I don't know the measurement requirements for UPS and airline shipping but if it could be made a few inches larger it would be much easier to get your bike and everything in place. Then it may be possible to pad the inside outer perimeter of the case for added protection. Overall, this is a pretty good bike case and with a little improvement it would be awesome.
