Testing
I decided to do my drop test after much consideration and you should never do this at home as this is for test purposes only. There should never be a time when your case would drop from ten feet onto concrete but after researching the case I decided to give it a try. With my bike in the case I dropped it and there was no noticeable damage. It landed fairly flat and to one corner and there was only a small scratch that even the camera would not pick up. Of course, my bike had no damage. The total weight with my bike, helmet, water pack, and shoes including the case was 66 pounds. There should never be a time when your case receives these much abuse even in the rough handling airports so I believe your bike will be safe.

Here are the recommended instructions for packing your bike.

Open the case and separate the halfs
Move the straps away from the case
Place one foam piece in one half

Remove both wheels from your bike
Install front and rear fork seperators
Next, remove skewers from wheels
Remove pedals
Remove handlebars from MTB’s, wrap in cloth, and place parallel to forks
Loosen handlebars until they are against the top of tube for road bikes
Remove your saddle, some may loosen and slide down
Crank arm should line up with chain stay tube
Take up slack in chain and nylon tie to rear derailer

Position bike on non-drive side
Place next foam over frame
Lay wheels on top of foam, they must overlap each other, put piece of cloth between
Place last foam over wheels
Make sure bike does not touch sides anywhere
