Alternative Warmth: Arm Warmers
Now that global warming’s kicked into high gear, the old winter, spring, summer and fall thing is looking really sketch. We get warm days in winter and snow when there used to be rain. The weather’s up for grabs, which doesn’t help if you’re going on a long ride and trying to decide whether to wear long sleeves or short sleeves under your jersey. So why not wear both?
With arm warmers and short sleeves, you’re covered no matter what the weather gods throw your way. They’re basically removable long sleeves with fleece lining to keep you warm and soft rubber grips to hold them in place. If you decide to peel them off, you just tuck them into a pocket.
ASSOS Roubaix has a nice pair made of two-ply, wind-breaking nylon/lycra outside with furry, moisture-wicking fleece on the inside. For 3C to 18C, it’s a good alternative that keeps your options open.
